my DVD profiler has started throwing errors about an Access Violation in memory, and also on the access permissions on some part of the database.  After I tried to upload some new entries to my online list, it was hung trying to update.  Had to crash the app.  Ran a rebuild DB action, still getting problems.  I always do a backup DB so I could recover, but I'm concerned about the access permissions issue.  makes no sense.

this is build 1444 v3.7.2 on a windows Vista pc.

Here's the exact error when trying to do an internet upload to my online data:

"A file access error occurred.  DVD Profiles is unable to acquire access to the file.  Please check file and directory attributes and permissions.  Cannot create file C:\Users\Al\AppData\Local\DVD Profiles\Databases.dod  "

What is the best way to recover from this?

First of all make sure that the path actually exists.

If it does, check if you still have the rights to perform changes to the *.dod files. For doing this rightclick on the *.dod file, choose "Properties" and then the tab "Security"
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
