Just out of curiosity, does anyone know in what order Profiler moves multiple titles between collections?
It would have been nice if they ended up in the same order that you flag them, but that's not it.
I've tried to figure it out, but it seems pretty random to me.

What do you mean by "same order"? The order is defined by your sort column.

But you can order your Ordered tab by purchase date descending and your Owned tab by title ascending.

As a generl rule, DVDP pretty much does everything ordered by profile ID (UPC+Locality) which also defines the order in the export XML.

What I mean is if I flag say three profiles in my Purchased collection and transfer then to Owned, they may end up in any order. They get assigned collection numbers and that's how I sort them. But I never figured out which profiles gets the first free collection number, which gets the next, etc.

As an example, today I received seasons 6 and 7 of Hawaii Five-O together with another title. I would like to have season 6 assigned the number before season 7, but if I flag all three and move them they may be assigned in any seemingly random order.

Just out of curiosity. Check the EAN/UPC: Does it make sense then if you order them ascending?

Or have you tried to check if it has to do with the order in which you flag them?

I also use the collection number in the order I bought them, but after adding all new profiles I simply choose the "Reassign Collection Number" function in the Collection menu. This way today's purchase get ascending numbers alphabetically.

For example: Yesterday I got The Goonies, Community Season 2 and 24 Season 8. Goonies got the number 851 (movies go from 1 - 10,000, series from 10,001 - 20,000), the four discs of 24 number 11889 - 11892 (ascending by disc number) and the Community discs got 11893 - 11896. Everything strictly by purchase date, then alphabetically.

That's an interesting thought. Looking at the last things I moved that way, it could actually be correct. I'll have to look for that next time.

I just move items singly (not more than one at a time) so that they get the collection numbers in the order I want..

Well, that's what I do, too, when the order matters to me. Usually it doesn't. I'm just curious as to how it's done. Being a developer myself, I know that it's extremely unlikely that they get picked in random order, so there must be some logic to it. DJ's idea that it's in UPC order seems quite possible.
