"A file access error occurred
DVD Profiler is unable to acquire access to the file. Please check file and directory attributes and permissios
Cannot create file C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\local\DVD Profiler\Databases.dod"
current buile 3.7.2 - 1444
w7 on a Toshiba L455 laptop
Permissions and attributes seem too be the issue.
I keep having to reset properties from 'read only' in order to perform a successful backup

Did you try to create a backup file or a collection export XML file directly on "C:\"? Windows 7 has stricter rules on where it allows you to dump your personal data.
