| Posted: | | | | I went ahead and got a used copy of Kwoon, and despite what IMDB says, there is no, I repeat, NO, Kathy Bates credited. So a BY for the Misery actress will not be necessary!
Eric | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Eric! But why doesn't it surprise me that IMDb is imprecise again? | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | This is before my time. So why doesn't anyone want BY when they are known but not need? |

| Posted: | | | | I never understood why BY data is done this way.
It seems to me it would be easier to just list all Cast and Crew members BY since that data can never change!
Until Ken updates or changes the rules I'm afraid this is how BY data is handled. |

| Posted: | | | | And we also have a problem (I can think of at least two cases) when two people have the same BY. |

Because the Rules say they are only to be used to distinguish between two actors with the same name. Yes, but why? What was the reasoning? anyone know. |

Yes, but why? What was the reasoning? anyone know. I'm sure there are more than a few things in the rules that need further explanation but you won't get one. |

Problem is not every cast or crew member's BYs are available. Not to mention there is also a lot of contradicting information out there. I could see us easily have multiple birth years for the same person contributed by different people. Messing up the linking. | | | Pete |

We are acquiring BY data for Cast and Crew w/ the same name. We would apply the same techniques for any and all Cast and Crew BY data. In both cases there are bound to be some BYs that can not be found. But for the others, multiple sources would be used for confirmation. Careful documentation to insure the correct data is entered is vital for all BYs in any BY contributions. I believe linking problems might actually improve if this data was entered for the majority of Cast and Crew. But, we have to stick with what is allowed...for now! |

If the information is out there why not use it. And with the documentation that is accepted now Wikipedia gets alot of their info from IMDB. So if one is incorrected the other is also. But it is the easiest place to get info. Not everyone will sift through 100's of web pages looking for info. |
