| Posted: | | | | Where are you supposed to get information on cast, crew, year of production and other credits if you can't use the IMDB? Other than watching the Show itself and copying down the information? |

| Posted: | | | | You're supposed to watch the show and copy down the information. Same way as it didn't magically appear in IMDB, someone sat down and wrote them there.
Production year is usually taken from the case, but other sources can be used for it too. Usually its good to check from several sites to verify it.
EDIT: ...and i think it should be mentioned that production year in DVDP isnt really the production year. Its the original theatrical release year, which can be different from the production year. So you need to know what the site you're using is saying when it says production year. | | | Last edited: by whispering |

For your local database you may use data from any source you prefer, even IMDb. You just cannot (or better must not) contribute it to the maindatabase. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Exactly what you see on screen, exactly as credited. That is what you must do if you want to contribute it. See the contribution rules for further details. You cannot use IMDB and then contribute it to the online. | | | 99.9% of all cat plans consist only of "Step 1." |

I'm mostly concerned with TV Shows at the moment, these are sets that have multiple discs and many episodes.
Does a contribution have to be complete with all that information or can it be basic info like cast, title, year. Can others add to it later? |

| Posted: | | | | You can add as much or as little as you want, as long as what you contribute follows the rules. Others can add to it if they wish, or you can revisit it whenever you like to add additional info. | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

You may want to check on the online if the cast/crew has been contributed for the series to another release/location. Its perfectly OK to copy the credits within DVD profilers own database. on the edit window just right click the credits and select copy, and on your profile right click and choose paste. Just remember to write on the contribution notes from which profile you copied it. |
