Remember how Star Wars fans got upset when George Lucas added updated graphics to the original trilogy films? Well, folks, he's done it again...only this time with dialogue on the upcoming Blu-ray release.

Remember the scene where the Emperor is electrocuting Luke with lightening bolts and Darth Vader looks on in silence before tossing the Emperor to his death? Well, just before he tosses the Emperor, Darth Vader now lets out a helpless "Noooo!".

I think Lucas should just leave well enough alone .

<<Helpless>> Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo <</Helpless>>

You know what I'm waiting for?

When Lucas has completely messed up the original franchise (Probably shortly after the 3D release), he should bring out a Limited Edition of the Remastered Original Cuts. Lets say limited to 100.000 copies worldwide ... I bet he could sell them for 10.000 each
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Crap - the once genuis has ruined it for me once again! Is he totally oblivious to the Star Wars community, or is it that he just does not care? Bastard!

It don't matter about the community. He knows he can do what ever he wants when a new format comes out. Cause there's no other way you can own Star Wars in 1080p.

And that's why he waited years to release the originals on DVD, after he released his last bastardization of the original trilogy. Sighting the reason they where not remastered. As was due to it cost to much apparently. It would have cost less than the money it took to make these alterations, than remaster the originals.

As sad as it is to say I will not be buying Star Wars on Bluray.  I put up with Greedo shooting first and the addition of the Hayden I can kind of act ghost but this is the last straw.  I hope every other Star Wars fan feels this way and Lucas is stuck with 100,000,000 unsold Blurays.  He doesn't care about the fan anymore only his vision.  They are his films and his right but I will not allow him to line his pockets with my money any longer.  Congrats George you have killed one of the best parts of my childhood.

I was looking at Lucas' list of credits and since Star war IV, V & VI he really has not done that much, Star war I, II, II wasn't all that great. I think he shot his wad with the first three.

I understand that fans feel adamant about all this but in the end, Star Wars is Lucas' creation and he's free to do with it as he pleases.

I think if I were to write a book that has become popular, and years later I revisit the material and want to change a few things for the reprint, I also wouldn't care what fans have to say. Because in the end, it's my story, it's my creation and I'm free to change it how I see fit, even if it's to the detriment of sales.

Not saying I think it's a great idea of him to make all those changes, just saying that in the end, a creator is free to change his creation as he sees fit.

I agree with Terry and Taro.

I personally like the extended editions. I'm not going to like the addition of the Noooooo either, but as an alternative, you could hit mute on your remote. I have pre-ordered the whole set on Blu-ray and yes, when he re-releases them on 3D, I'll buy them yet again...damn it. That will make 5 times he pinched my wallet.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. Thankfully most creators understand this but apparently that doesn't suit GL. Fine, I'll just stick with my old DVDs with the OTs then.

As much as I beliieve in final cut for the director, when that cut has been done and presented to the public, he should leave it alone. The work no longer belongs to him in a sense, it belongs to everybody.

If not for the fans, then of respect to the other directors and artists who worked on the original Star Wars. He's just shiitake mushroomting on them now.

I'm fine with Lucas tinkering to his heart's content. I'm not fine with him taking old versions off the market. This is the third time he's done so.

I guess his tinkering would be better received if his choices wouldn't be o terrible, like the addition of the "Noooo". Sure, obviously he must think it's a terrific idea, but reading between the lines it seems even the sound engineers felt awkward putting that in

I was wondering about the National Film Registry.

Since Episodes 4 & 5 have been included in their registry wouldn't they have the unaltered prints for conservation/preservation reasons?

If so, then couldn't he have used those for the BR release?

Next thing you know, he'll be adding a production number.
