If you are an American classic cartoon fan (Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, etc) then you might be able to help me with this. Trying to remember even the title has bugged me for years.

Daffy Duck (I believe) is the manager of a hotel. A man (who I think was not a regular character) signs in and goes up to his room where he finds a mouse (not Speedy Gonzales.)

He calls down to the manager who tells him the mouse will be removed for a small fee (I'll say $5.) The man pays and a cat is sent to the room which scares off the mouse, but now the cat won't leave. He calls up again; the removal of the cat will be at a higher fee (maybe $10.) He pays and the cycle continues. Next comes a dog, then either one or two more animals, all the while the fee is getting higher. Then elephant gets sent which ends up filling the entire room. To get rid of it, the manager says to place (I'll say $10,000) into a slot in the room, and the money comes pouring out a tube next to the manager's desk. He then sends a mouse via (I believe) an air pipe and it scares the elephant away.

Lastly you see the man sleeping in the now-destroyed room, no longer concerned about the new mouse.

Yea... even if I was wrong about the characters, Merrie Melodies (and therein WB) were 90% of the cartoons I watched growing up, so it's a good assumption that is where it came from.

The list is a start at least. Thanks

Thank goodness for Google .. ( "A high school English teacher ... recently Googled a phrase in one student's paper and found it had been taken from a sample essay of an online editing service" ) ... LOL

Okay, I was mistaken.  I was thinking of a similar cartoon named "A Pest in the House" has Porky Pig as the manager and Daffy Duck as the bell boy. The guest wants a night of rest but with Daffy Duck, such is not to be.

There's a nice throwaway pun on the sign Porky passes at the beginning:

This short can be found on the Looney Tunes Super Stars: Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl DVD set, UPC 883929-108619, released just about a year ago. First time on DVD.

It surprised me this wasn't in any of the Golden Collection sets, with over 350 shorts in the collection, I thought for sure it was in there.

Thanks for the video link Caleb, hadn't seen this one in quite a while!

I am frustrated by the Golden sets... too much Speedy Gonzales, too little Marvin Martian.

Where's the definitive/complete Marvin DVD?
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Since Speedy has been censored from TV, any cartoon with him is a bonus.  That said, we do need more Marvin!

I'm not familiar with this Super Stars series, going to have to get them!

What I ended up doing with my collection was to create a folder with each major character (appears in more than 2 or 3 cartoons) and then copied every cartoon that they were in into it. Means some duplicates with multiple major characters (Bugs & Daffy for example) but it's all good.  The main difference I have is that I treated Sylvester & Tweety as it's own set and put the other cartoons with Sylvester in a Sylvester folder.
