You have plenty of other types of movies to watch to keep you busy until then.

I say skip this year. You don't want to burn yourself out on the annual routine. If a Horror marathon just doesn't appeal to you like it did last year, and horror being your favorite genre, then you're burning out.

Think of it as a rest break, to prepare to beat your record in 2012. To maximize your enjoyment of the challenge of besting your record.  To collect additional material.

I'd say: just enjoy yourself and do whatever makes you feel good.
No reason to feel bad because of some self-imposed objective. Planet Earth won't stop turning if you can't beat last year's totals, so why would you let a target like that upset you.
If, like you said, you "have some horror related movies and TV Series that I been watching that I would like to continue to watch", what's (or perhaps rather: who's) keeping you from doing so?

I tried saving christmas oriented materials last year for the holidays, even though I was kind of neutral on the whole thing.  For whatever reason I just couldn't get in the mood last year.  Turns out I didn't watch but maybe a third of what I held back on.  If you don't think you're going to be that into it, then I wouldn't bother cutting yourself off.

I've done an X-Files marathon every year for the past 4 years but I don't think I'll be doing it next year. I still love the show...my favorite show of all time...but there's only so much one can take .

Perhaps you should give it a rest this year. Enjoy your movies when you have the time and, if you have more time available next year, have your marathon.

I am of the opinion that saving seasonally themed films to be viewed only during those seasons rarely gives you the pleasure you expect. "Miracle on 34th Street" was released to theaters on May 2. It is great preparation for readying this year's fourth quarter ad campains (selecting products in July, buying them in August, preparing artwork and copy in September, printing and distributing in October to hit newspapers in November... just as involved in radio and TV ads at the same time). By the time the stores are putting up Christmas decorations, I know it's time to buy candy to hand out for Halloween. All holiday time means to me is big family feasts at the farm... James deep frying a turkey, my wife making four bread stuffing and fruit salad, Michi's tempura, Traci's potato-mac salad from Hawaii, Vicki's beans, and Susan's devilled eggs.

How about one season TV series or series you thought ended to soon.

Many shows went down hill after....
If the female and male series leads, bed the shows dead, example Twin Peaks, Then why do management continue to demand it?
Years ago when Japan started to play hell with Amerian car manufacturers we had a seminar  at work (GE))which noted a survey that management caused 85% of the problems.

In the US we tend to run something into the ground.
If one network has a hit show the rest of the networks are sure copy it.
