| Posted: | | | | With youtube crashed as I write this, I can't see or hear the first video in the OP but have a better version of the song. Really kicks in around 55 seconds. Enjoy.

But I personnally think some different versions can't be bad for a song. A good version of a good song has also some interesting sides. (But it will never be the original ) |

I think I need to get more Stones into my collection. Everyone needs more Stones in their collection. (I might be prejudiced. (But it will never be the original ) I wonder about it never being the original...What about Autumn in New York? Which version of Ebb Tide, Sinatra or Frank Chacksfield? Lullaby of Birdland[/b]: Ella, Sarah Vaughan or someone else?, It's All Over Now (Stones or Valentinos) etcetera etcetera. |

| Posted: | | | | With a few exceptions, if a performer also writes the song, that writer/performer does the best job. Steve Stills liked the Mojo's Men's cover of "Sit Down, I Think I Love You" at least as well as Buffalo Springfield's original. Mel Torme refused to record his "Christmas Song" because Nat King Cole's was too good.
"Lullaby of Birdland" has been covered very well by hundreds of fine artists; it is a standard. But without George Shearing's original, none would exist and would have nothing to measure against.
Like I wrote above, Brian Jones liked the Animals version of "Paint It Black" as well as his own.
Nothing wrong with a good cover, a new interpretation. But originals can often never be bettered. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
