| Posted: | | | | Have you ever noticed the difference between UK rating details and others? Noticed mainly when converting an existing posting to a UK version. Not sure what it says about who but our respective 'big brothers' definately have a different idea as to what we 'need' to be aware of/protected from. For example (randomly selected)...
Eat, Pray, Love...
UK Rating: "One Use of Strong Language". US Rating: "Brief Strong Language, Some Sexual References and Male Rear Nudity"
Same film!
Love & Other Drugs...
UK Rating: "Strong Sex, Sex References and Language". US Rating: "Strong sexual Content, Nudity, Pervasive Language and Some Drug material". (Hands up who knows what "Pervasive" actually means!) Australian Rating: Strong sex Scenes and Sexual references.
Same Film!
Must be better ones out there? Maybe worth a contest for the most
Note use of ridiculous use of "capitals" in the above... rules is rules??? | | | Gonna jump...gonna jump... |

| Posted: | | | | In Germany the one reason for a higher rating is violence. The more (pointless) violence a movie contains the higher the rating will be.
Nudity of either sex is no reason to up the rating unless we're talking about actual softcore/hardcore porn. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | What's the UK rating for "Man's Best Friend"? US is one of my favorites because it sounds funny - "Terror and Violence Involving a Household Pet" Other countries are probably rated G, as terror is so American! | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

Nudity of either sex is no reason to up the rating unless we're talking about actual softcore/hardcore porn. Same in The Netherlands. But I think that doesn't surpise anyone | | | Cor |

| Posted: | | | | Someone once said that ratings are quite easy:
All Ages: if the good guy gets the girl
Restricted (or 16+): if the bad guy gets the girl
18+: If all the guys get the girl | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Edit: But I think this is never called in the movie, so it is not really the drugs forcing the rating. I also think if it would have been because of drugs, this would have been called in the rating details. | | | Last edited: by VirusPil |

I also think if it would have been because of drugs, this would have been called in the rating details. But then, the whole movie is hallucenogenic. The author must have been on some strong stuff. And what about the eating of mushrooms and the subsequent visions... | | | Hans |
