| Posted: | | | | I did some thinking about how to properly credit Hogan in this movie.
It says "Original story by" in the opening of the movie. Also he did the screenwriting.
I interpret it as he simply wrote the story line. But he did not write a book, so I see it as incorrect to credit him "original material by".
I tried to do some research if I could maybe credit him as "writer" or "original characters by", or maybe "story by".
He was also nominated for "Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen". |

Since there is no 'Based on' prior to that credit, OMB does not apply. This is a 'Story by' credit...the fact that it was "original" is besides the point. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. However I was attempting more to go to the bottom of this and understand what he wrote and how he wrote it, more specifically. Either way, maybe it's more about interpreting the credits correctly. However it is indeed a bit confusing. A person writes a story. That's how I see it. Then if it makes it into a book or is just written for the screen... I mean, what's the difference between "Writer" and "Story by"? Is there some encyclopedia somewhere to understand the credits better and the roles of the crew members? |

He thought it up .. then wrote it down , then tweaked it for the screen. .there is no Book just story by and (screen) Writer.. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Is there some encyclopedia somewhere to understand the credits better and the roles of the crew members? There are specific rules, at least here in the states, that determine who gets which credit. Because of that, we do not deal with what they wrote or how they wrote it. We just enter them as credited. If you really are interested, the Writers Guild of America has a " Screen Credits Manual". Not quite an encyclopedia, but it does spell it out...though a tad convoluted. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
