Ascenseur pour l'echafaud (confirmed by me. Please note that the original title in the opening sequence is "echafaud", not "échafaud") Can you provide a screen capture of the title in opening sequence? I'm a little astonished that such an enormous spelling mistake as been done. There are only two correct ways for this title : "Ascenseur pour l'échafaud" and "ASCENSEUR POUR L'ECHAFAUD". "Ascenseur pour l'echafaud" is not possible in French and is not requested by rules (we have an unfortunate statement by Ken about names, not about titles). | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

This was taken from the Criterion dvd, and appears at 1'18" into the movie. I see that the actual title is even "Echafaud", but I used the non-capitalized version, as is usual in French titles. However, this is irrelevant for the purpose of this particular topic (which is about Mr. Decae/Decaë). | | | Last edited: by marcelb7 |

OK for using non capitalized version, but you have to correctly convert E to é (in this case). So when you wrote "Please note that the original title in the opening sequence is "echafaud", not "échafaud", you were wrong about French spelling rules, that makes also wrong about Invelos rules that ask ": The Original Title field will contain the original title for the main feature in the country of origin." | | | Images from movies |

Again, Yves, this is not the topic for this discussion. You can be very helpful if you can provide name confirmations for Henri Decae or Henri Decaë, for the non-confirmed titles in the above post. |

Again, Yves, this is not the topic for this discussion. OK, but why did you wrote in this discussion "Please note that the original title in the opening sequence is "echafaud", not "échafaud" ?? which is wrong per Invelos rules. As for confirmation for Henri Decaë, the only thing that I can tell you is the correct way to spell his name. But I know you are not interested by this information. | | | Images from movies |

When I researched the Credit Lookup results, I came across a few variations on the title. Because I absolutely wanted to be sure which title was correct, I popped the disc in my computer to verify it myself. Because many people use the common name topics to find the actual common name, I found it useful to put this info in it as well. The more info people give, the better. Now, can we please get back on topic? |

Yes. Except you gave wrong info since what you wrote is not what is on screen. Why don't you simply accept it and just correct your post? It would allow to come back on topic quickier than trying to mask your error. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |
