Many years ago, very late at night, I saw a film set in a ski resort (I think) where a yeti-like creature was killing the inhabitants.
I think there was an avalanche as well.
It was in colour.

I just can't seem to find out what it was called.

The Ice Queen?

Dr. Frantz Goddard has stolen the archeological find of the century - a female humanoid from the ice age, discovered sealed in a tomb of amber deep in the Amazon forest. A desperate fight with his pilot sends his plane crashing into the snow-covered Killington Mountains, causing an avalanch that engulfs a nearby ski resort.

The stunned survivors at the resort are trapped inside the shattered building underneath mountains of snow. Even worse, something deadly has been unleashed underneath the snow with them - The Ice Queen. Thrown from the crash, she has awakened from the cold, gruesomely deformed, viciously powerful, and terrifyingly evil.

With little air left and the resort collapsing around them, the survivors must make a deadly gamble - face the Ice Queen, or succumb to certain death.

Sounds like it could be the 1977 TV Movie Snowbeast... Check the below youtube clip. The Snowbeast promo starts at the 30 second mark.

Definitely sounds like Snowbeast. I have it on DVD (Vipco release). One of my favourite monster/disaster films of the '70's!

It IS Snowbeast. Thanks for that everyone.

I've now ordered it.

I also noticed on YouTube that there is a 2011 version (remake?) starring John Schneider. It's a SyFy original and I thought it looked pretty good (I really do love crappy horror films!)

Bumping this old thread to say that the remake to Snowbeast is being released on DVD. I pre-ordered myself a copy at amazon already.

My curiosity got peaked when Pantheon mentioned John Schneider is in it. I liked him on both Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville.

Snowbeast @ Amazon

I remembered that one from when I was a kid. It stayed with me forever. I was kind of thrilled to finally get one in one of those 50 movie packs.

Not really too bad for a made for tv movie and a lot better than some of those sy-fy bigfoot movies.

Yeah I have the original in one of those budget movie boxsets as well. I must say I am a bit curios about this remake... which seems to also be a TV movie remake? for Syfy Channel?
