| Posted: | | | | Since I only got two movies of him and both are different, I wonder what's the correct parsing. Billy Bob/Thornton or Billy/Bob/Thornton | | | "What's God?" | Posted: | | | | The 2nd name. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | According to his official webpage, his legal given name is Billy Bob. Therefore, I would parse it Billy Bob//Thornton. "Billy Bob Thornton is the oldest son of high school basketball coach Billy Ray Thornton and Virginia Faulkner Thornton, a psychic who predicted his 1997 Oscar® win. Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on August 4 (that makes him a Leo), Billy Bob was named after (respectively) his father (Billy) and his mother's grandfather (Bob). Yes, Billy Bob is his legal, given name. At the advanced age of seven months, he became a sensation in the local papers by setting a record as the heaviest infant in Clark County at 30 pounds. He was followed by two brothers: Jimmy Don and John David. " | | | My Home Theater |

Like many southerners the first and middle names are used together, regularly. I couldn't tell you how many cousins and aunts and uncles i have that are addressed like that.
But it is a First/Middle/Last name | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | It is quite irrelevant how you parse it in your local database but I'm sure you know that already. As for the online, I would just leave it alone, there's no point in changing it. Especially since we have been promised (more or less) that parsing will be partially or completely removed in a future program update. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

But it is a First/Middle/Last name I read that as different. Given name = First name IMO. If Billy is the first name and Bob is the middle name, you might be able to call him Billy Thornton. However, if he is only called Billy Bob Thornton, then it's pretty clear to me that Billy Bob is his first name. | | | My Home Theater |

I think the article was saying that his given name was 'Billy Bob' as opposed to being short for 'William Robert'. Quote: However, if he is only called Billy Bob Thornton, then it's pretty clear to me that Billy Bob is his first name. I don't believe what you are called determines what your first name is. My mother always calls my son by his first and middle name combined, that doesn't make it his first name. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | My girls common name is Stacy, but it's really her middle name. Her first is Erin, how do we parse her? I'm thinking just 'Stacy' as a stage name. |
