| Posted: | | | | This is no different than a "Based on a story by"
He/she did not write the story for the movie itself, but instead the story from which the inspiration, idea, or base story line came from....

Small correction: you don't know that. That can be the case, but it certainly doesn't have to. Although that would be very nice, we really can't draw such definite conclusions just from the wording of the credit. There are, for instance, also plenty examples of what you just stated, but which are awarded a "Story by" credit. It just isn't that black and white. I understand that that's unfortunate, but it just isn't. Having said that, we can devise a standard way of handling these in DVD Profiler. We just need to understand that whatever label we pick, it won't necessarily accurately tell us something about what kind of source material it really was. |

| Posted: | | | | If we're talking about my contribution for "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer & The Island of Misfit Toys" then when you look at all the writing credits you see that this TV show is based on a story and music by other people. Yes, I could be wrong, but that is my take on it. And if we're not talking about this one, then in the words of Gilda Radner, "never mind." | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

Charlie Agreed. Even though I understand where the contributor is coming from, for DVDProfiler purposes this is OMB. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | A bit of research shows that 'Young at Heart' (Frank Sinatra version) was a remake of 'Four Daughters' which was based on the novel 'Sister Act' by Fannie Hurst. I think that answers the question.
Original Material By is correct.
