I just purchased the full version of Profiler and was wondering if there was a spot to mark the condition of the DVD when it was purchased or given to me. For example (new, used, rental, gift, etc.) Some of my DVDs were purchased from rental stores closing or buying rental versions.

Thanks If you picked up any of the Lions Gate DTV horror offerings, I recently did a ton of profiles of the rental UPC's as stores keep dropping left and right around here too. 98% of those had unknown UPC, but all had disc ID's the same as the retail versions. Strangest thing happened during this though and I've never seen anything like it. I picked up the rental dvd of Lost Boys: The Thrist. It has the exact same disc ID as the retail (unless someone boofed that profile and started with a rental disc, then used cover specs of retail), but content is vastly different. It has 1 less audio track than the retail, 2 less subtitles, no features (retail has a featurette and trailers I'm sure), but still says it's the same disc! Oh yeah, it doesn't even have chapter stops on the menu, just play or audio.   |

That sounds reasonable and possible, but why when I added by inserted disc did it say I had the dvd only retail version? The profile I got had scans of the retail cover showing the featurette on back, and nothing about BD or parent profiles. It also had the audio/subtitle and feature specs that match exactly what the retail cover says it has. The profile I got from disc was 883929126743, maybe someone can check if that profile is correct. It almost feels like something is wrong there. On a related note, the rental version of The Invasion I grabbed when Blockbuster was closing a couple weeks back, is the same disc ID as side b of the HD-DVD combo. |

So if I buy something used, I created a new store and either say the store so I know it was a used one or even garage sale. I have one store that is called "gift." I always thought that disc ID was 'implanted' during the copying or burning or Pressing phase of manufacture by the new recorder or device used for manufacturing said disc..
