Something I've been vaguely curious about for a while is how people end up being credited in the way they are. The sorts of terms I often see are:

- starring
- co-starring
- with
- introducing
- guest-starring

Some of these I can make educated guesses at, but others leave me scratching my head. When is a star a co-star (especially when there are both stars and co-stars)? Is someone who is introduced _really_ a first time actor? Why with?

Anyone in the know who can enlighten me?

Stuart
This is a sig... ... ... yay...

Don't understand? Maybe DVDProfilerWiki.org does!

At least for TV series intros there's a rulebook for the importance of actors within the credits.

For example, some credited as "AND xys AS abc" is more important than the third or fourth listed actor in the same credit.

'And' and 'with' are reserved for top tier actors, that aren't part of a TV series main cast.  They are given this credit to show that they are on the same level.

Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock doesn't fit that theory.  As someone else stated, I think they are reserved for top actors that for one reason or another isn't listed first or second.

I meant to say 'usually'...not sure why I didn't.
