sorry if this has been discussed before, i couldnt find it in forum archives. I have noticed that some combo packs have the dvd version of the film as a seperate contribution. others do not. i refreshed my profiler and had a couple combo packs now including seperate profiles for the dvd. i am fine with either way i just want them to be the same such as Toy Story 3, Alice in Wonderland(live action), among some with seperate profiles for the dvd version....Alice in Wonderlan(animated), Beauty and the Beast,Iron man 2 where one contribution for the movie and dvd is just included in that contribution.  thanks for any info and again sorry if this has already been mentioned.

Rules Quote:
Quote:
Sets containing the same film on multiple media types (such as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack) are to be entered as a normal profile for the main media type (Blu-ray in this example), with all included media types checked. A combo which includes HD media (HD-DVD, Blu-ray) as well as DVD should use the details from the HD media in the main profile. However, you may add an additional profile by Disc ID for the DVD content and add this profile to the Box Set contents for the Blu-ray profile.

So per rules... it says a profile for the DVD may be created. So basically you have the option if you want to create one you are allowed. But it isn't mandatory.

The way Addicted2DVD reads the rule is correct, the separate DVD profile is not mandatory.

Do we also check Media Type "DVD", if the DVD only contains bonus materials?

Just if the main feature is on both media types.

Personally I've just been locking these profiles without the dvds as it messes with my count, plus I have all the info from the BD. Now if the dvd is a different film like Saw 6 coming with part 1 (that was a bonus bd, but similar) or Mirrors 2, then I want it in the profile. Duplicating most info cuz both formats are present seems almost silly, but I know for others it might be of huge importance (like families figuring out what movies they can bring in the car on raod trips that only have dvd players).

So basiclly just do what I do, if you don't like em, don't accept em and lock that part of the parent, then you never have to check no again.

I try to keep my count more for movies and series than discs. TV sets, I count the parent, but check no number for the children. For boxsets of various films, I count the children and not the parent. Plus it shows more hits for any person involved, so it skews the count of how many movies do I have actor X in, or director Y. Those things show up no matter if I tell it to count it or not and are what I try to avoid. Now if I own a movie twice outside of the same package I'll count both versions and deal with the subtraction in figuring how many films anyone is in. Just don't need to add to that with dvds I never wanted and some I already gave away to boot!
