| Posted: | | | | While cleaning my database I found more then one John Morris without BY... So I checked the BY List...but not all are listed...so my problem is: How to separate them without BY... I checked the forum with google search but found nothing helpfully... 1. John Morris *1926 ('Blazing Sadlles', 'The In-Laws', 'Dirty Dancing') - composer wikipedia imdb filmreference theoscarsite2. John Morris *1984 ('Toy Story', 'Toy Story 2', Toy Story 3') - actor wikipedia imdb3. John Morris *???? ('Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix', 'The Da Vinci Code', 'The Living Daylights') - special effects imdb4. John Morris *???? ('Rat Race', 'Wild Things', 'The Sweetest Thing') - sound imdb hollywood.comThese are only the ones i found in my database...but if you check imdb (if you trust it ) you can find a lot more... Is there a way how to separate no. 3 and 4? Except using fictive birth years... | | | Hardy

| Posted: | | | | Without a birth year there is no way to do it for the online at this time.
Locally only you can always use a fake birth year... just have to remember to not contribute this info to the online. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Yup, fake BY's is currently the only way to go.
I would advise not using anything from 1800's thru now as it's just too easy to confuse these made up BY's with actual accepted/approved BY's.
Personally I use 1001, 1002, 1003 and so on.
So when I do a contribution and my made up BY's show up on the page and I see 1002 I know it's one of my made up BYs and that's it's not ok to contribute it. |

| Posted: | | | | Hoped there is a way...to separate them also for online database... Hopefully we will have a way in future...perhaps something similar to the imdb style or an individual id per crew/cast member. | | | Hardy

| Posted: | | | | And don't forget screenwriter/producer John Morris (Hot Tub Time Machine, Sex Drive) I just use fake middle initials...John Q. Morris with the above example. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! | | | Last edited: by huskersports |

| Posted: | | | | Sorryyy. (No I'm not). Hee-hee. Personally, I saw them once and that was like enough for me and also I thought "damn it if I buy this it will confuse my db with several John Morris!". THAT'S how smart I am. LoL. ^^ Only not smart enough to be psychic. However that movie "Sex drive" sounds interesting... Blast. |

| Posted: | | | | Happily I only have variant 1 and 4 in my database. So for me it's only one without known BY, but since this means to have 1 with BY and 1 without they are quite easy to distinguish. Quoting VirusPil: Quote: For the sound guy you could try to Email to ZuZu Films. http://www.zuzufilms.com/topframes/perfection_crewbios.htm Or you could wait for the announced change in linking and hope that this would fix the problem. ... | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Psst, we don't use easy solutions. Btw, I think there will some time remain until a change happens, so I don't think this is lost time. + With a now added BY the change to a new system will be easier. |
