| Posted: | | | | I just made a contribution. I may have made an error and need to correct, but thought I would ask.
The Credit is Toni G. her real name is Toni Garavaglia
should she be credited Toni G.// or Toni //G.

| Posted: | | | | I'd think if he or she (Toni, could go either way) usually uses just the G., then it would be considered a stage name and all in first name field. Just checked the numbers and Toni G. is winning by a mile, but could be IMDB'd data as they have G. as common. Even G without a period has more than the full last name. Looking like all first name to me. |

| Posted: | | | | Well, if it can be documented... But we don't work with "real" names, only common names and credited as. So I would probably treat it as a stage name. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | I would treat it as a stage name as well, so all in the first name field. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I totally disagree that this name should be treated as a stage name.
Just because the last name has been shortened to an initial I don't see this as a stage name. Why is this any different than someone shortening/adapting their first names.
For example: Actor JB Blanc (as he is usually credited).
Real Name: Jean-Benoît Blanc.
We don't treat this as a stage name so I see no reason to do so with Toni G. |

If this is a stage name then any name variant that isn't someone's "real name" would logically be just a stage name too. We might just as well go to a single field for names if we're going to do things this way. --------------- |

We don't treat this as a stage name so I see no reason to do so with Toni G. Until I read your post I would have thought these names should have gone into the first name field only. But, after reading your rationale, I believe the correct parsing is as you describe. |
