| Posted: | | | | First things first, this post contains a major spoiler for the film so if you haven't seen it - leave this thread now (as such the poll options are suitable non-specific).
ok then,
the credits of the film actually list 6 cast members, but only 2 of them actually exist (3 of them are also "portrayed" by Michael Caine while the other is a credit for picture/painting of the otherwise never seen wife of Laurence Olivier).
so should i amended the credits or leave them be? and how would you credit someone that doesn't exist?
in terms of accuracy, the credits should be amended. but this then would go against what the film makers intended in creating the fictional credits in the first place (just another of the games played in the film). the other issue is that anyone buying the film to watch for the first time would be presented with a profile informing them that Michael Caine is playing the other characters and as such it would perhaps spoil the experience of this wonderful film.
thoughts? |

| Posted: | | | | I am not 100% sure on what you are saying... but if I understand it right it should use the Credited as system.
So the fictional cast should be in there... but if you can document that it is really Michael Caine you do so with Credited as
Michael Caine (Fictional Credit) as Role Name
This way it shows as is in the credits... but also links up with all his other credits as well... and gives him the credit for the work he did.
EDIT: Being a spoiler for the film isn't a concern in doing the profile correctly. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | Yes, but as a general rule if you want to contribute it, it needs to be by the credits. Anything in the profiles are optional. But I see what you're saying. | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

| Posted: | | | | If done correctly, with the credited as system, there would be no spoiler. Since Michael Caine portrays the character playing the character, the credits would be:
Michael Caine [Alec Cawthorne] as Inspector Doppler Michael Caine [John Matthews] as Detective Sergeant Tarrant Michael Caine [Teddy Martin] as Police Constable Higgs
Done this way, Michael Caine would not be displayed in the profile...unless you click on the name or go into edit mode.

| Posted: | | | | The only way there would be a spoiler is if you have a headshot of Michael Caine. Then when clicked on you will see it is him. | | | Pete |

that i get, the issue is that the wife's role is credited to "eve channng". she does not exist, apparently the picture/drawings were "inspired" by pictures of joanne woodward. so how do i credit that? Joanne Woodward [Eve Channing] as Marguerite Wyke |

Joanne Woodward [Eve Channing] as Marguerite Wyke Just Eve Channing as Marguerite Wyke. I don't think we track look-a-likes or inspired bys. But if this should be really tracked (because the credit exists) or if this shouldn't be tracked (because the person doesn't exist), I let others answer you. | | | Last edited: by VirusPil |

| Posted: | | | | I wouldn't... In my opinion "Inspired by" is not enough to say it was her. I would have it simply as...
Eve Channing as Marguerite Wyke
...to match the credits per rules. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Pete. Whether or not she exists, she is credited, so should be entered as is. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
