BulkEdit, but beware it can only import the XML-format of DVD Profiler itself, CollectorZ and a couple of others, see this thread. You could either ask mediadogg (the author of BE) to integrate support for your XML-format, or if you provide a sample of it I would be glad to assist you in transforming it into DVD Profiler format with a XSLT. | | Posted: | | | | Griffith is an impressive effort. But it is virtually useless in combination with DVD Profiler.
- It will scrape from just about any web source to pick up movie info, based on a title search, and allow you to pick from the alternatives presented.
- It will export into DVD Profiler V2 or V3 formats. I tested a small sample with BulkEdit. It works.
Here is the rub. The single most important piece of information missing is, you guessed it - UPC/EAN. So, except for any personal information, the rest of that scraped data is totally useless - BulkEdit will load it temporarily (if either the UPC or ID fields are filled in with manual or real UPCs), just in case you are creating a local - "non DVD" database. But as soon as you put in valid UPCs and do an Invelos refresh, all the actual movie data is overwritten with valid Invelos data.
Since Griffith is open source, it could be modified by someone to scrape the UPCs from the selected title. Nothing else, except personal info is needed. Then the exported result can in fact quickly create a valid DVD Profiler database using BulkEdit, followed by Invelos Refresh.
I am considering finding a place to insert a hidden flag within a BulkEdit created profile so that Invleos can identify any attempts to submit new profiles scraped and imported from BulkEdit CSV/XML. Then the author's source documentation could be more carefully checked. Good idea / bad idea??? | | | Thanks for your support.
