As I mentioned here:
http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=506789

A lot of annoying people who want to increase their numbers and location in the "Top Link Submitters"do it at the expense of other submitters such as yours truly. I just checked the "Link Feedback" list again and saw many NO votes for good and valid links that I submitted

It's impossible to keep doing the hard work while others take your work and make it their own.
So as of this moment I have decided to stop contributing new links

I didn't even know there was a Top Link Submitters list.  How lame.

Are these more problems from Belgium profiles liorb? I've encountered the same many times.

I haven't stopped submitting links, but I have resorted to submitting most links to This Profile Only.

Really though, I often see blatantly invalid links (i.e. dead links, incorrect profiles/films) that have been in the system forever now. Invelos really doesn't have any system (i.e. moderators) in place to weed out or check the links that receive feedback. It's apparent that it is totally up to the submitter(s) of those links to correct them, or else they simply stick around and are just relegated to the bottom.

We need an improved system, or let's just kill off the links for good.

Just checked through my "Link-Feedback", (didn't even know that this existed until just now)
seems I received some for contributing the official German movie sites, which the inhabitants of the USA don't seem to like.

Now really
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

The NO votes I encountered today were from Germany and France.
If it was for bad links, I'm OK with that. But they targeted links from

Are these official German movie sites for German films or for US films?  If they are for US films, I can understand that they wouldn't apply to the R1US profile.  I thought that, in those cases, the links were supposed to be attached to the specific profile only.

When submitting links, I use the following rule of thumb:
- trailer in native language of the production : add for all localities and profiles
- trailer in a localized language, different from the language of the production: add only for that specific profile

In my opinion, a German trailer of Inception has no business in the US locality profile, but does belong to the German locality profile of that movie.

liorb22, in your case I believe you didn't do anything wrong. Before throwing in the towel, perhaps you could:
- PM the NO-voters and ask for clarification? If they vote NO, they should have a valid reason for doing so
- If that fails or they don't provide a good reason, you can use the Support page on this website to inform Invelos of an abuse of voting privileges. They'll normally look into it and if indeed repeated abuses are found, they can remove voting privileges from those users

Taro... Links work differently then contributions... you don't get to see who voted no or for what reason for links like you do for contributions.

That is exactly the main problem of the links system - You cannot know who gave the no vote. I would contact the voter if I could but It's totally anonymous. Ken must implement the same feedback system that is a part of the profile contributions, which means that a no voter MUST give an explanation of him doing so. Otherwise they just abuse the link system and it's contributers.

My apologies, I didn't know that. Well, in that case the system is indeed broken. Anyone can vote anyhow with impunity. That needs to change indeed. Did you try to contact Invelos about this? Because I think losing valid links is a real shame as it also adds value to the whole DVDP experience.

I don't believe the no votes makes you loose the links either though... as far as I know... it just pushes that link down further in the list of links for that section. I haven't noticed or heard anything about the links being removed just from the no votes alone.

The one thing that really is effected here though is youtube clips/trailers... if they get no votes it will change your trailer in the program. The one with the least no votes is what is shown in the program.

That's correct. No votes will only lower them down in the list, unless they have previous Yes votes that counteract this.

If a user does not check their link feedback and correct any incorrect links accordingly, the bad links will stick around and not be removed.

Didnt know either. I got a no vote from a Norwegian for adding the French trailer for B13: 13th District ...It's a French film I'm guessing s/he was the one that added the english trailer to the profile

All the other no-votes were (now) dead links, which i removed.

Based on my past experience, deleted links are effecting the counter. You lose between 10% to 20%. It doesn't sound much, but when you receive NO votes on a daily basis the impact is much greater overall.
