| | Posted: | | | | Back in my first years online, I only visited a few channels, and I stayed on them literally all day long (chatting, not just idling and logging). Back then, you could get so glued in (because it was more like hanging out with friends than any of the alternatives at the time) that you hated to go to the bathroom or get something to eat because it meant you might miss something, and as soon as you get back you quickly read the backlog. Ahh, those were the days. For the past few years I only use it for group meetings with other forum moderators when we have planned a long discussion. Easier than dealing with IM and faster than chatting on the forum or message board. I mostly idle at work, but I run protection scripts.
