Digipak... slipcase.

That's how I've submitted changes to the Canadian profile. No one has a problem with it so far.
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Yeah, I don't know why they didn't just make that outer part a standard slip cover rather than that. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Agree with you guys.

Plus the wording on the spine is so dark that it'll be difficult to read sitting on the shelf.

Another thing is I can't stand the feel of the black case. It feels felt and I don't like that.

Some Amazon customer posted a gallery of photos here.
The problem is the front/back cover does not attach to the case. It just folds loosley over the slipcase, and falls off unless you hold it or place it down on a flat surface. This is not evident in those photos.

Is there nothing underneath those front and back overlays?

Nope - nada. Imagine a flat rectangular cardboard, one dimension = width of the DVD slipcase. The other dimension = 2 x height of slipcase + a thin spline. Now make two folds, so that the cardboard folds over the slipcase, much like a horse saddle (hey, new name = "saddle cover"?). The artwork appears only on one side of the saddle.

Possibly the price of glue has inflated to a such a high price, it is now no longer profitable for them to glue covers on to there slip cases

That might be a solution actually. Get some glue and stick it on carefully. Seriously it does sound like a total joke. Usually my complaints with digi packs are the housing of the discs.

As a lot them seem to stack discs one on top of the other. And i don't like having to remove one disc to get at another. Not to mention having the disc surface exposed by the gap between them.

It's easily the dumbest packaging I have in my collection.

I think it was done that way intentionally, sort of a hint that the art is for store-use only (people can recognize the cover, see some quotes and see the contents) - when you get home, it can be discarded and be a "super fancy, criterion style package" with only the black digipack.

Expect that ratio to fall sharply the next few weeks/months. Happens with all new releases. Most bluray-buyers get it the first two/three weeks after release, while the dvd has a slightly longer run.

Funny that the people who support bluray always throw these kind of statistics, but try to seek out the ratio for the longer term, say, the first three months of a release. It's an entirely different thing altogether.
