| | Posted: | | | | I know it's first come, first served but I'm wondering, just like how there can be a UPC for different localities, couldn't the same be done for media types? This came up after I bought The Girl Who Played With Fire which had the same UPC as the DVD version. Of course, I just made the proper changes and kept it local. Anyway, not sure if that's even possible but the thought crossed my mind. |

With blu-ray ever expanding, who's to say we won't run into this situation more often now? It can't always be first come first serve when they're two entirely different things sharing the same UPC. I just don't see that working for like, 99% of users.

Really, you don't want to know how many distributors blindly copy/paste info from the dvd cover onto the bluray cover.... Yeah, it's most likely an error. No point in contacting them, though. I do recall now when I got this at Barnes and Noble that there was a sticker over the UPC (on top of the shrinkwrap) so they probably know and shipped them with the proper UPC on that sticker. |

Yeah, it's most likely an error. No point in contacting them, though. They wouldnt be able to charge different prices for blu or dvd, they wouldnt know if they had run out of stock of one version, but not the other etc. |

I couldn’t find it listed under its name, English or International, or any variations of these, so in the end I had to add it manually to my collection via its Disc ID. So duplications certainly do exist. I did have a look at the cover scan for the other film and it does look like it has the same number, so it’s not a data entry error.

Fly Daddy Fly (Peullai, daedi) if anyone is interested, UPC 8809086115002. Paul 8809086115002 = Untold Scandal? Asian dvds are notorious for using existing UPCs for bootlegs. Sorry, mate... I found the Korean version of Fly Daddy Fly on yesasia, but sadly they don't list the UPC. There's an invalid UPC for this movie in the database (2200000350213), so you might want to revisit that one. |

More than 3 times I've been looking for info about a weird dvd I get ahold of by googling the UPC and it's came up with different titles than what I have. I think they keep stuff in print for short periods of time, then re-use the UPC numbers. One time i got 4-5 different titles for the Same UPC!  |
