Always associated Red River as being 1948 .. but today I noticed this on the opening screen-
MCMXLVII  or 1947 ... ??  IMDB has August Sepetember 1948 as initial release ...
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

actually I see on Wiki this comment -

Red River was filmed in 1946 but not released until September 30, 1948.
So do we go by screen credits or actual dates??
as per another forum discussion ..?

From the Rules:

Enter the year of the original theatrical release...
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Yeah, we ignore the copyright info and search outside sources for first theatrical run.  Most of the time they're the same, but there are a fair number that aren't.

Exactly.  As I recall, THE OUTLAW is another example where there are years between the copyright date and the release date.  Profiler rules call for the release date, which usually, but not always, matches the copyright date.  People have called for a change before, but Ken hasn't gone along with it.
