One of the first things I do, is try a database repair. Have you tried this yet? Otherwise, maybe someone else would have another suggestion...

If this still occurs after a database repair, please come back and provide more information, i.e.; what is the error message you receive.

The message I get is
"acesss violation at address 0404608 in module 'dvdpro.exe'. Read of address 206F7418"

I should mention that it worked briefly yesterday than abrubtly stopped working again.  I updated to 3.7.1 todayand the problem continued.  It sends an error message out but I do not think it is going any where.

For cornering the problem: When exactly does the error occur?
- When the "Add DVD ..."-dialogue opens
- While entering the UPC
- When clicking on "Add to collection" in the "Add DVD ..."-dialogue
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

It does not even let me bring up the screen.  It just gives me an error message.  Nother weird thing is happening now.  I did another data base repairs and it has been going for over an hour.
