Trying to enter movies via upc and they come up no match so I look them up by title and see that the UPC listed is different than mine while everything else about the DVD is the same.  This is actual on the box and not a store sticker UPC.

One example: Jack Frost, my UPC:  085391-132288  and the DVDP UPC: 085391-722724

I also notice obvious movies are missing like "Horton Hears a Who" on Blu-Ray.  The DVD version is there but not blu-ray.

I tried adding "Santa Baby" and it didn't recognize the UPC until the 3rd time and then seeing if it would again, didn't.  Title search showed two UPC codes for the same DVD, one being mine.

MINE: 031398-220015
DVDP: 031398-220039

Any idea what is going on?

Hello,

The database of DVDP is done and filled in by users. So if nobody already own the DVD or Blu-ray with the same UPC than you, the profile doesn't exist.

So in this case, the best thing to do is to create the profile yourself following the contribution rules and when it's done, to contribute it to be available after to all the DVDP users.

If you need help concerning the contribution rules or how to create your profiles, don't hesitate to ask on the forum, you will always find someone to help you.
Regards
Cyrille

I will just add that it is not uncommon for a single movie to be released under multiple UPC numbers. Something we see all the time.

Here's a little "How To" on cloning profiles that you may want to read

http://www.dougweb.org/dvdpro/kb/index.php?title=Cloning_Profiles

when cloning from another profile you need to quote that profiles UPC/EAN in your notes, also if the profile contains Uncredited actors but has no documentation for them they need to be removed (unless you can visually identify them)
