The deep running underdog spirit through our culture and history rises us to the occasion on our home turf against the toughest opposition. Once it was on the battlefields of the wars of independence. Or those pushed from there homeland who formed the backbone of the army that won America it's freedom from the British empire. Now it's on the football field and only if England had such an energy to draw on they to could rise to occasion. But no there players are superficial over paid numptys and don't give a flying fook. If you want a feeling what it's like going to Hampden when facing the best opposition the world can throw at us here's an example. The England bit in it's banter  |

Not quite...Last night, unlike during the World Cup we finally saw a Dutch team playing football the way it should be played. Perhaps the fact that bloodhound Nigel de Jong was not selected and Van der Vaart played instead made the difference. | | Posted: | | | | We were poor. Defensively we made too many mistakes. Although i think Elmander looked offside with the third goal. The throw -in also seemed incorrectly taken.
But these are not excuses, we should have done better. Van der Wiel is just too poor. Always back passing, defensively always making mistakes. Unbelievable!
But congrats to Sweden. Again they win from the Dutch without Zlatan. Should we start thinking they play better without him? More as a tam perhaps, instead of expecting a moment of brilliance from him?

Paul Not to mention the fact that in the second half not a single one of his passes to the front of the Swedish goal reached a Dutch player (unlike Erik Pieters' performance in the first half).
