Full Moon released Puppet Master (852733-001690) and Puppet Master: Axis of Evil (852733-001942) on Blu-ray earlier this summer (7/27/2010).

They've officially stated that a "test batch" got sent out that shouldn't have. These only included Dolby Stereo 2.0 instead of the Dolby 5.1 that was listed on the covers of both Blu-rays.

They have since sent out free replacement discs to those who originally purchased them, and the Blu-rays that are for sale now direct from Full Moon and at places like Amazon should have the corrected 5.1 tracks.

My question is this:

Since I originally was the one who submitted both profiles, can I now correct the audio tracks in those profiles from Dolby 2.0 to Dolby 5.1, or should I just leave them as is?

The new Disc ID's of the corrected discs are also different of course, but I know those can be contributed.

The only possible way around it that I can see is if the 5.1 version were being sold at the same time as the 2.0 one. You might be able to change it then but people might go for "First come, first served".

If however, they released the 2.0 disc, then later released the 5.1 version, then I would have to say the info has to stay as submitted. Whether or not it should have been released isn't relevant. It was available to purchase.

That's just the thing, Full Moon have said that it was only a small percentage that accidentally got out with the 2.0 audio track. Beyond that though, I don't know the specifics of what percentage actually got out to people...

Shout Factory also did something similar last week with the Slumber Party Massacre Collection. Some copies include unedited commentaries and some have edited commentaries. But in that case it was only the "edited" ones that should have been released, not the unedited versions. Not that it would really matter in Profiler in that case, but it's a similar circumstance.

I would change it, since Full Moon has officially stated that the first batch were faulty copies (the cover stated 5.1). Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't this just affect some copies that were pre-sold from the Full Moon website?

BTW, how do you check if your Slumber Party Massacre set contains the edited on unedited commentaries?

That's the way I understood it. This was what was stated in their original customer service email to me a couple months back right after it was released:

There was a small test batch of Blu-Rays that went out with incorrect audio. I am waiting for a re-print and will send you 2 correct Blu-Rays as soon as possible.

If you listen to the commentary track on Slumber Party Massacre II, there will be a silent "gap" about 19 seconds into it when they are introducing themselves, and then it will continue. One person had to be omitted after the fact, and there are some long silent gaps throughout the commentary due to that. There is also a Crew person edited out from the commentary on Slumber Party Massacre III.

I ordered it from Amazon and received the "edited" release. I've also ordered a 2nd copy direct from Sout Factory which should arrive today or Monday. From what I've read on other forums, everyone thus far has received the "unedited" versions from them. So here's hoping...
