| Posted: | | | | I always thought that a Special Effects Coordinator can be added except when there's a Special Effects Supervisor credited. There's a contribution right now that removes the Special Effects Coordinator because there are Visual Effects Supervisors credited. I voted No, but the contributor thinks the Visual Effects Supervisor is the functional equivalent of a Special Effects Supervisor therefore should be removed. Am I reading the rules wrong and is the Special Effects Coordinator not allowed when a Visual Effects Supervisor is credited? | | | Cor |

| Posted: | | | | No you are correct.
A Special Effects Coordinator is allowed even when a Visual Effects Supervisor is credited. The only time a Special Effects Coordinator isn't allowed is when a Special Effects Supervisor is credited.
It sounds like the contributor is getting confused about Special Effects and Visual Effects.
Today Special Effects basically takes place on set whereas Visual Effects is done in post production. | | | Last edited: by CubbyUps |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Cubby. A Special Effects Coordinator is certainly allowed even when a Visual Effects Supervisor is present.
The rules are specific, and Special Effects Supervisor and Visual Effects Supervisor are two different jobs. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | Visual Effects Supervisor is NOT the functional equivalent of a Special Effects Supervisor. They are two different jobs...which is why they are both listed in the chart. The removal is incorrect. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. This But i do think this note should be removed as it does cause confusion and Coordinator should just be added to the allowed list of credits for Visual/Special Effects | | | Last edited: by ninehours |

| Posted: | | | | I didn't know this one. I will adjust my thinking for my next audit. Thanks for the clarification. It's a shame the rules don't cover this kind of thing. It's probably covered in the rules forum, but alas, I can't see those posts. I have requested admittance, but never even received so much as a yes, no, maybe or kiss my _ _ _...just silence. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

There is no relationship between SEC and a Visual, Digital or any other Effects person that we use. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here
