Melissa & Joey @ Wikipedia
Melissa & Joey @ IMDb

Mel Burke is a councilwoman who takes care of her niece and nephew after their parents went AWOL and to prison. Since she can't handle it by herself she hires a nanny - a former businessman who lost his company.

Melissa Joan Heart from Sabrina the Teenage Witch plays the lead in this laugh track sitcom. I don't know any of the others. But I enjoyed the first three episodes. It was light-hearted fun and I think the comedy between Mel and Joe works well.

Of course there are similarities to Who's the Boss? and The Nanny but I don't mind as long as it's funny on it's own.

Hellcats @ Wikipedia
Hellcats @ IMDb

Marti Perkins is a scholarship student at the Lancer College in Memphis. Due to budget cuts her scholarship gets cancelled and the only way for her to remain in college is to get a cheerleading scholarship. And since she used to be a gymnast, she gives it a try even though she has no love for the sport. And her arrival at the team is also met with mixed feelings.

I thought I gave it a try since I like Bring It On with Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku and Bring It On: All or Nothing with Hayden Panettiere. These movies didn't really take themselves seriously and had a high Guilty Pleasure factor. But this series seems to be all work and no play. I'm also not really impressed with the lead character. So I think, I stay with Life Unexpected and Gossip Girl, that's enough drama for one season.

Terriers @ Wikipedia
Terriers @ IMDb

Hank is an ex-cop and an ex-drunk. Britt is his best friend. And together they run an unlicensed private investigations business. Their first case is to retrieve a dog from a mountain of a man, directly followed by helping a young woman who got in the crosshairs of some very powerful tycoon.

I'm not entirely sure where this show is (supposed to be) going but I liked it. It wasn't on my radar until today but ... I liked it. Donal Logue from Grounded for Life and Michael Raymond-James from True Blood make an interesting team and my guess is that the episodes will be a mixture of case of the week and the story arc involving that tycoon (because I'm pretty sure that ain't over yet). Since they are neither real cops nor real PIs this could be an interesting change of pace.

Nikita @ Wikipedia
Nikita @ IMDb

Nikita is a trained spy and assassin who escaped from who escaped from her black ops division called, well Division. She was the best they ever had and she is still the best. Now they want her dead. And she wants to bring them down.

I was never that into the original movie by Luc Besson and I never watched the first series. But after Alias I thought I gave this new series a try. But it didn't pique my interest at all; there was nothing special about it. And worse: It was not just not that interesting; I got bored while watching it. And the "twist" and the end was no twist at all. On a show like that a twist was to be expected. And the part where she was the one behind the pig mask was an non-twist for me because it was so blatantly obvious from the start.

Hawaii Five-0 @ Wikipedia
Hawaii Five-0 @ IMDb

Steve McGarrett is a Navy Seal who resigns his offto work as a cop on his home island Hawaii. But just not as any cop and not just for some reason. His father was killed by the man he has been hunting for years and the HPD can't be trusted to solve this case. His team works under direct authority from the governor and gets way more leeway to solve their cases. He's supported by a not so ordinary team.

The cast reads intriguing: Scott Caan (Ocean's Eleven, The Fast and the Furious), Daniel Dae Kim (LOST), Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica), Masi Oka (Heroes) and of course James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Smallville).
The problem for me is that it is a straight-forward cop show like CSI or NCIS. There's no special element in it. I'm sure it's a good show that many people will enjoy but it's just not my kind of show.
It doesn't help at all that I'm partial towards the supposed baddie (Marsters).

Raising Hope @ Wikipedia
Raising Hope @ IMDb

Jimmy Chance is a young man with no plans for the future and who works for his father as pool cleaner. But then a young woman jumps into his van, they have a one-night stand and she gets pregnant. Also - she's wanted for murder and gets executed after giving birth. Jimmy is suddenly a single father.

This reads as weird as it's coming across. But it is surprisingly appealing. It has a very surreal feeling but it also leaves a desire to learn how this odd thing is going to continue.
I'm not sure I'm going to watch it but I will at least watch one more episode (and maybe one more after that (and maybe ...)).

$h*! My Dad Says @ Wikipedia
$h*! My Dad Says @ IMDb

Henry lost his job when his magazine went under and now he's broke. He has no other option than to go to his father. And Ed is most definitively not the easiest person to be around with because he always says the wrong things at the right time.

The Shat is really great in this role. One has the feeling he's once again just playing himself but that's OK because The Shat has the right amount of self-mockery to pull it off. "Guts or nuts - your choice!".
