| | Posted: | | | | Signs that the tide of popular music could be changing as in England exciting new acts are starting to break out. And as everyone knows when England starts to produce America soon follows. So here's me hoping the days of American Idol and superficial rap nonsense will now start coming to an end as the next English new wave takes shape. This is a group called Hurts who have been given some bad write ups for being a rip off of the Pet Shop Boys. But have been building up a huge fanbase across Europe La Roux are breaking into America |

| | Posted: | | | | Thanks for the heads up. Never heard of Hurts, but I already have the La Roux cd. Great band. And I can't believe Hurts got reviews for being like the Pet Shop Boys. How is this a bad thing? |

Those where just two examples it's going to take some time it's not going to be like the death of disco but certainly it gives hope that this decade could be better than what has past in the last 20 years of mainstream music. |

Cause it makes them unoriginal apprently but the music reviewers over here in this part of the world are like radical indie nut jobs who will do all in there power to slap this kind of music down. Pretty pathetic. |

Certainly since the 60's that's been the way. No. It's 2 different continents, but still one world. So of course American and British will have a lot in common. But to claim that American artists have copied British music since the 60's, is at best just ignorant. How about all the disco/pop that dominated the charts in the 80s? (eg. Stock, Aitken, Waterman and the likes). Nothing but updated rip-offs off American disco. I do like it, but it's not very original. How about all the current soul, funk and hip-hop related music coming from Europe? Sure America have been heavily inspired by British music (especially pop and rock from the 60s and 70s), but it goes both ways. | | |  |

I wasn't meaning copied i was meaning what becomes very popular over here usually ends up selling big in America. |
