Hi,

i'm configuring dvd profiler to use a proxy, but unfortunately it still tries to connect directly to the internet (that's what my firewall is telling me)

either i'm the only one using a proxy or i'm missing something.

does someone have an idea?
(i am using 3.6.1 1392)

have fun...

If you don't have a large home network, the proxy server is most likely a machine on the internet.

Normally the chain is this

your computer - your firewall - invelos.com

With a proxy server it's like this

your computer - your firewall - the proxy server - invelos.com

From the POV of your firewall it doesn't matter if you're using a proxy or not.

thanks for trying, but last time i've checked i wasn't an idiot.

so, for the record, it looks like i do have a "large" home network. i have my own proxy.

and even if i would not, the destination address of a packet send to a proxy is that of the proxy and not of the final address. but no matter if i switch the proxy settings on or off inside dvd profiler, all packets go to invelos.

so, if i'm not missing something important, it looks like it does not work as it sould.

have fun...

All I can say is that I have DVDP running at work and there I have no other choice but to run it via the company router/proxy. A direct internet access doesn't work and if I enter the proxy settings it works.

But I am also no TCP/IP expert, so I have no idea what routing information is actually in the IP packets. But it must at least contain the final destination because otherwise the proxy server wouldn't know what to do with the packets when it receives them.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

i'll keep on trying and maybe someone else has an idea.
