Might be a silly question, but I have a Thai copy of a Hong Kong film, the English title of which should be The Longest Nite and indeed, on HK copies of the film, it is, as it also was on the now OOP US release.

However, on the front and inner of the Thai box, and on the disc, it says The Longest Nites (plural).

The DVD isn't currently in the database, so do I add this as Nites because that's what it says, or Nite, because that's the proper English title for the film?

Ta!

Unless I am missing something, per the rules, it will have to be 'Nites'.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

You did say that didn't you.

Still, it has an original title which means it should link with other profiles for the same film, if they are ever added.

Tim:

You just want to argue?     The OP said the Cover title (which is what the Rules prescribes) is The Longest Nites...so be it. That is what the rules say to do. I would probably be inclined to use The Longest Nite for my LOCAL original title. The Rules do NOT allow for user defined or corrected typos, they do not allow for use of the On Screen Title, which is what I think we should use, frankly. They do not allow the use of the title from any other source than the cover period.
ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!!

My bad: I thought we were talking about the "original title" field, but we're not. Since this is about the "title" field only, then yeah, I'm afraid that it has to be 'The Longest Nites'.

Which rule would that be? Unless I am missing something, I don't see it.

Rules (first sentence for Titles)  say "Use the title from the front cover". Same thing that "Meangirls", in another thread.

To be entirely correct, it's: This ^^
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Could also be
Title: The Longest Nites

Original Title: Um Fa

Not at all. Original title is Um Fa.

Rules : "Foreign Films: The Original Title field will contain the original title for the main feature in the country of origin."

You're correct, of course.

Missed the part about the film originating in Hong Kong.
