I just created a DVD from a VHS tape. The title doesn't exist in the database and I was wondering if it's possible to share a manual profile?
I scanned the tape covers and entered as much of the data that I was able to find without too much effort. It took a fair amount of time and I'd like to share the results of my efforts if the occasion ever arises.

| | Posted: | | | | Yes there is a way. 1. Flag the profile 2. Goto File --> Backup Database 3. In Options Check Backup Flagged Profiles Only 4. Share Backup Hope that helps.  | | | | Pete |

1. Highlight profile you want to share.
2. File -- > create profile file (this will create a file like an update from the online)
3. share file (email, whatever)
recipient
1. Add manual entry through add DVD (basically create blank profile with the corresponding manual entry)
2. Retrieve shared file (save on drive)
3 double click file to open in Profiler. (This will bring up a comparison screen. If it correct and wanted, click ok and the info will enter into recipient DB.

| | Posted: | | | | Sounds good. My internet account includes a fair amount of web space. I'll try uploading the profile and then restoring it another computer on which the profile doesn't exist. I'll also backup and restore a flagged profile. I'll update. |

| | Posted: | | | | Update. Well that was almost too easy. Almost.
I flagged the manual profile then clicked on "Backup database..." I then selected "Backup flagged entries only", and after Browsing to a Specific location (a thumb drive), I gave it a name and clicked "OK".
I then went to the target computer and attempted to "Restore" the profile. At this point I discovered that I hadn't updated to the latest Profiler version and couldn't restore until I had done so. I updated and decided to Restore my last full backup and after comparing headshots for about an hour and was only in the "Bs" I just gave up and updated them all.
The manual profile, which I had just created, was not included in my last full backup so I was good to go. I went to "Restore database...", browsed to the file location and after clicking "Next" I chose "Restore Specific Profiles". As I had only backed up one profile that was the only choice I had. I selected it and clicked "OK". That was it. It added the profile to my collection.
I'd never previously chosen to restore a specific profile but and can see where if I erroneously deleted a profile this would be the simplest way of restoring it. Just go to my last full backup and Restore the single profile. Collection number and all.
I only have 4 manual profiles that could possibly be of interest to anyone else. I'll post their names in the thread provided.

Jim Did you mean to share it with who ever would drop in on your website here? Or did you mean to add it forever to the DVD profile library? Only legaglly released DVD's can get into Profiler but you can share that title ( without the artwork scans, sorry),, within your own self library to 'share ' with others .. It's not a website. It's just webspace that comes with my ISP account. I can upload anything to it and then share the URL with whoever.
The manual profile which I just created is for the 1938 serial "The Flying Devil Dogs". I'd been looking for this title for the last several weeks and came across the 2 tape VHS version in a thrift store. I'd inquired online about the quality of a single DVD version and wasn't happy with the response. Both the picture and audio quality of the tapes are fine. All things considered.
I have a K-World Tuner/Video capture card so, using Nero, I created 2 DVDs from the VHS tapes. I made each chapter a different episode and put six on each DVD. Unfortunately, this isn't the title I was looking for. I intend to post a request for help in locating the title that I am looking for.
