| Posted: | | | | Hey everyone... I made a small mistake on a contribution today. I am human... these things do happen. And I am more then happy to fix my mistakes as long as I know about them. That brings me to the reason for this thread. I appreciate that people see voting no to a very small problem a bad thing. But I would ask at least for my contributions to do so... as I seldomly ever look at vote notes when I get all yes votes. Because of this I am very unlikely to see it so I can fix these small mistakes. Not that today's mistake was very small in my opinion I made 1 change... added a group divider to cast list... and I screwed the pooch on it by forgetting the end divider. 1 change... 1 mistake. I would have definitely voted no. Thankfully Kathy seen a yes vote with comment... and knowing I seldomly look when I get all yes votes PMed me.. BTW that will work too if you really don't want to vote no on small things. Believe me people... I do not take no votes as an insult. On the contrary... I really appreciate them as I know I am not perfect and it does no more then give me the chance to make my contribution better for all of us. I have said this many times in different threads but I imagine that many people don't see them as threads here do tend to go on for whatever reason. So I thought I would start this thread in hopes to have most people see this... and know I will not take a no vote personal. If you want me to see a small problem it is one of the best ways to do so. But voting yes with comment will not work for me most the time. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I of course did fix it... I just want people to know that yes votes with comments (at least only) does no good... that is something I will never see. Think of it as a Public Service Announcement. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Unless I get a no vote it is highly unlikely. Maybe if I am really bored sitting at the computer sometimes I will click on them just for the heck of it... but that is a seldom thing. Other then that I just go to the page every so often skimming the yes and no numbers to be sure there isn't any no votes. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I can say from experience that you absolutely do not take no votes personally. I voted no to a contribution of yours probably less than a month ago I believe, stating that most of the info was correct, but there was one small error (I think I actually posed it as a question, allowing you the opportunity to pm me if my no vote was off base), and in turn, you not only corrected the error and resubmitted, you actually gave me a nice little green arrow for my no vote.
I wish more people were like you when looking at no votes, it'd make this place just that much better! | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. | | | Last edited: by Merrik |

I wish more people were like you when looking at no votes, it'd make this place just that much better! I feel it is the least I could do. You bringing a mistake to my attention makes it so I can get it right the first time around and I or anyone else don't have to fix it later. Quoting northbloke: Quote: Quoting Addicted2DVD:

| Posted: | | | | I think this relates to the fact that Ken has said that a contribution doesn't have to be perfect in order to be accepted. If it adds significant value, but has a small mistake, it can be accepted, and the mistake can be rectified later (by the same contributor or by someone else).
Given this statement it's understandable that some voters feel that a No vote may not be appropriate, and they would rather vote Yes with a comment.
I don't think it's reasonable to expect the community to keep track of which users agree with this, and which users would prefer No votes for all mistakes.
The bottom line - while I appreciate the time you spend making contributions, I think that if you are concerned with minor mistakes you really should read all comments. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | When you got anywhere between 30 to 100 (or more) contributions up for vote at any given time it is next to impossible to keep an eye on all the votes for all the contributions throughout all the days that they are up for vote. You wouldn't have enough time to do anything else. I would be spending all my time clicking on vote links.
And for your information it was hardly a minor mistake that brought this up. I added a single group divider to a cast list... and forgot the end divider... putting about half (if not more then half) the entire cast under the group divider. It is not like it was mostly right... it was closer to all wrong. And I got all yes votes... one yes vote with a comment?
It is not like I am expecting every single person that sees this will do as I am asking here. It is more like I am just saying.,.. if you want to see a change... a yes vote with comment isn't the best way to get this change. I am positive I am not alone when it comes to seldomly looking at vote comments when all we get is yes votes. As I have seen others say the same thing. | | | Pete |

This can happen if you're trustworthy ... just ruin your credibility and you'll get "No"-votes for incorrect contributions again. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
