Hey all, Just curious....I just had a cover contribution rejected due to an incorrect UPC/EAN.  First of all, what does EAN stand for or mean?  Second, I'm not sure what they meant because the UPC does match because that's how I called up the original profile, with the UPC.  My back cover, including the UPC is (from what I can see) identical in content to the existing cover in the profile (as is the front).
So, if anyone can clear this up for me, much appreciated.
Thanks!

"The UPC/EAN of the contributed cover scan does not match the profile's UPC/EAN"

EAN is European Article Numbering ..

and what are we talking/explaining about here ? you give no referances to anything ...

I was just curious what EAN meant and also why if my cover contribution matched the existing UPC (I was contributing for quality) why it would have been declined.  If, specifically, you want the cover information it was for "The Passion Of The Christ" (not the Canadian version) and as I said I was contributing a front and back cover for improved quality. I'm really not sure what you want reference to.  Was that it?

Well, Jimmy just because the UPC might match (or might not) is not very useful either way. You may have a re-released cover which is not acceptable at this time. Passion of the Christ has been released in the US at least twice to DVD that I am aware of and once to Blu-Ray. The Blu-Ray is a "recent" release and the two DVD releases have been around for many years, the first was released in 2004, six years ago

This is a DVD.  So, if the covers are visually identical, and the UPC's match, how does one tell which cover is valid.  I saw no differences in the covers and if the release dates match, how else can I tell?

What's the UPC of the profile you were trying to update? If you give that information (and maybe even link or post the scans you uploaded) that would go a long way in helping people determine what happened and why.

If it was just cover scans, it could be simply the fact that cover scans are highly subjective. What one person may consider to be a better cover scan, another person may think is completely inferior.

It appears to be this contribution.
Not that this tells us very much...

Edit: Looking at the cover scans for this profile it appears that it is already the wrong UPC. The profile is for 024543-138976 but the UPC on the scan is 024543-129752.

Perhaps JimmyT tried to contribute a new scan for 024543-129752? If so, his bewilderment might be understandable, as he is trying to contribute the same cover that is already there (but probably a better scan of it).

This would have been my idea for the no votes.
