I've been a member of many forums over the years. I was banned from one because my description of a (possible, but it was cut) Sopranos spoiler (in a thread of Sopranos spoilers) made a non-gay character the victim of a prison rape. This upset the homophobic owner of the forum and *poof* I was ousted. I was banned from another because I publicly questioned the motives of a moderator who was over zealously censoring perfectly good posts, simply because they did not reflect his Christian viewpoint. The owner of the forum invited me back, I refused because that moderator was still allowed to let his moderator's Christian fundamentalism rule the forum. I've left others because they were boring, but more often because one (or more) uncontrolled contributor made life miserable for not only me, but the majority of the participants.

Forums seem to attract at least one each of two miserable kinds of contributors: (1) those who cannot function in the real world: those with severe aspergers or other autistic problems where they see the world under their terms only, and while they might give speech about trying to see anyone else's point of view, they never allow it to affect their jackass behavior; and (2) political myopics, who cannot let any discussion exist which challenges their limited political worldview. These, sometimes, are the same person.

Both are the reason I leave forums. I want to hear your views, so I can understand every point of view. But if a single or a few narrow-minded bullies dominate the forum, unchecked... then sooner or later, it is no longer anything to do with my curiosity and willingness to converse with people who are different than I am.

I might peek in to see if this forum changes, but... so it goes.

I've been knocked down nine times...

Actually, I blocked you long ago. You have used your desease as an excuse to behave poorly. You are a troll, and please do not flatter yourself thinking you were any tiny part of my decision. I have too many friends with aspergers, schitzophenia, bipolar and other mental illnesses who manage to be polite humans. Good luck!

I've known Bill since the 1970s. I worked with him for more than a year. A kinder, less obtusive person would be hard to find.

People who use their illnesses to justify misbehavior is my problem, not the disorders themselves.
