Since installing DVD Profiler 3.6.1, I have had problems with the update database feature.  When I select the feature, it scans my collection, but then hangs up.  I get an indication that the scan is 100% complete, but the dialog box showing the profiles that can be updated doesn't open.

If you go to the "Tools menu ->  options ->  Online"  and select "Test Internet Connection" does it work?

If it does not then you may need to look at if you have firewall or anti virus software installed that may be blocking it.

If it does connect then I would try a data base repair: "Tools menu ->  options ->  Utilities -> Repair Profile Database"

Tom is correct.
Database Repair usually fixes this.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Hi,

the same with me (and my DVD Profiler).

Internet works fine (Test in DVD Profiler works also).
Database Repair -> I tried it two times

Online Update -> red cross (for a half of a second (so i cannot read anything)), no updates found

So there is a problem...
I also use the newest 3.6.1 build.

Best regards,
Oliver

Same problem here. Database repair has no effect - and connection test is o.k.

Are you sure there are updates available? Cause no updates has been released since 18th of May

I have the same problem and followed all the suggestions list, and it still does not work.

As well I am not able to add any DVD's "unable to download"

Last week everything worked fine.

Please help if possible

On my Vista System, I look in this folder:

C:\Users\MediaDogg\AppData\Local\DVD Profiler

And I see:

OnlineList.dod
OnlineListSel.dod

When I remove or rename those files, then do Online Refresh, they come back after a healthy download. Maybe the same will work for you?

Make sure you save the old files just in case - if you still can't connect, your files were probably OK and you can put them back and continue your research for the real problem (probably antivirus software and/or firewall).
Thanks for your support.

i'ts not the antivirus or firewall that is causing the problem because the program runs entirely , but when you start the program for updating the profiles you get a red cross and after that the program search for profile-updates and the result is that there are no updates.....but there are because when i go to the profilersite and to  the database-updates i have the whole week every day a few updates of the profiles and pictures that are available and added to the database.....
