I am wondering if there is an easy way to reassign collection number to None without doing them one at a time. I accidentally told it to reassign number and to assign where it is set to none. I like all my child profiles to not have a collection number.

My first thought is to run my latest back-up but do to stupidity that is not an option I am really interested in... as I recently just made 100 manual profiles for the 100 movie boxset I just bought. And stupid me forgot to make a back-up after that 100 manual profiles. So even if a back up would work... I would loose those 100 manual profiles.

So is there an easy way I can set collection numbers to none as a batch instead of doing it one at a time?

I always made sure since day one of my collection to always include a purchase date., and I  only number the children and not the parent box set (or vice versa in some cases) ..
so If I ever have to reassignment numbers I depend on that purchase date(s) for properly putting in correct collection numbers..

sorry I can't help directly .. but one option to start with is the 'nest box' option to ''grow out'' all your titles individually.. would be one area to start...

edit
and looking over your question again .. it maybe quicker to reassign those 100 box sets rather than your whole library which I'm sure is more than a 100 titles..

My choices seem to be Set all child profiles to none (3 mouse clicks per profile)... or recreating 100 profiles completely... including getting the movie posters for the covers... everything! So I would think setting the childs to count as none would be less work the completely recreating 100 full profiles.

I wonder if that batch plugin... whatever it was would help me with this. I would have to find it and see if it would work. Though the last time I tried to use it... it didn't work for me.

One idea might be to backup ( totally new name re backup) your current collection along with the 100 new box sets ..
then restore your your old backup (first one) .., Then create a real quick box set.. then go back to backup #2 (new name) and restore 'just the box set only' that you did a real quickie on .. and that should give you your old list back and then restore the second list box sets only for the new ones...

was just reading the thread before I posted but that was going to be my suggestion.

The batch plugin you are thinking about is bulk edit. Unfortunatly I don't know if it will let you do collection numbers like that...though if not would be a good enhancement.

Can you copy\paste a none collection number between profiles?

Thanks... I actually thought of that one... but it wasn't one of the options to paste to the other profiles.

You could try changing 1
DVD>Copy : that 1
Then flagging all the Profiles you wish to change
Collection>Flagged>Paste
then in the new popup menu down if I remember correctly in the bottom section of the new window is an area for personalization issue, I think one of them is the "Count"
tick that and be sure to tick the box right at the top "Confirm" I think it is
then apply

Steve
edited to insert actual sequence.

Thanks Steve... I looked there. And I used that count before... it is to set the number the profile is counted as.. I used it to set all my child profiles to zero. The count it effects is the onbe where it tells you how many DVDs (actually profiles) is in your collection.

Pete,

Another option could be to flag just the 100 manual entries and then back those up separately. Then restore your old backup and then add the 100 m,anual entries from the 2nd backup.

This may be what Terry sugegsted - but I'm not sure..

Thanks Paul... yes it is what Terry suggested and  is what I ended up with. Sorry I wasn't clear that all is ok now!

Though I do still think it would be a good idea for an addition to the Copy/Paste function!
