| | Posted: | | | | just wondering if anyone knows where to buy the count duckula dvd set. i see they have one on ebay for like $130. that's a bit pricey for me. i remember watching as a kid and now having 3 kids ages 5,3, and 1 am looking for dvd's of the cartoons i grew up watching. i think most cartoons nowadays just dont compare. i may have to just settle for darkwing duck untill maybe a re-release.  |

| | Posted: | | | | i have tried the amazon canada website and it wont ship to U.S. from discounts ca. i think my dvd players are only region 1(maybe PS3 would play other regions?)just was wondering if there was a place that sells OOP dvd's. i'll keep looking on ebay and maybe catch a deal(probably not)  |

| | Posted: | | | | Just asked someone that owns the Complete Series UK set and they said it is flagged as region free for them (and although it's listed here as region 2, the individual season sets that are included are listed here as region free). That means you're OK for the UK set providing your set-up can handle PAL.
Don't forget aswell, when you order from Amazon UK you get to remove the already added 17.5% tax which should cover your shipping. |

| | Posted: | | | | i checked ebay and they have the whole series for $59.99 with $3 shipping which isnt bad. problem is it says region 2 UK/PAL. you must have a region free or PAL dvd player. i know none of my dvd players are PAL compatible. even if i could transfer them over to NTSC using my computer would be ok |

Check out www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks and run your player make and number through. You may be region free and not know it, or might be a couple buttons away from freedom. You'd be shocked how many players can be region free, although you're probably bumming if you have Sony, they don't have many crackable models. |

Check out www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks and run your player make and number through. You may be region free and not know it, or might be a couple buttons away from freedom. You'd be shocked how many players can be region free, although you're probably bumming if you have Sony, they don't have many crackable models. funny you should mention sony. that is all we have our tv's, dvd players, surround sound, etc.. we wanted it to be uniform. that sucks. however my kids have a dvd player we bought from big lots for $20. it's purple is all i know! |

I had a similar set-up and wanted to upgrade my region free player (a Sampoo at the time, what a pile of crap those players were). I actually ran just Sony through videohelp to see if any players were crackable. At the time (4-5 years ago) there was olny 1 or 2 out of 20 or so models. I doubt things have changed much, but maybe Sony got cheaper. I had a theroy about region free players, that any player can be region free because they all start with the same parts. Then after the player is made, it's locked to whatever region/country/tv signal they are meant to be sold at. But that Toshiba player here in the States is basiclly identical to the one in Europe, except for different settings inside. If you can get to the settings, you can make the player what you want, not what the factory set it for. I think Sony had an extra step or maybe used different parts for different regions. There's no reasonable way to think all their players are uncrackable by accident when so many others are the oppisite (where 8-9 out of every 10 can be modified). I ended up with a Toshiba player which I've loved until getting Blu. I still have the Toshiba for other regions as I didn't splurge on any way too expensive multi-region BD player. Plus the Toshiba gets to play non-anamorphic discs as I don't have the zoom-1 opition when running through HDMI (to make non-anamorphic look anamorphic and fill the screen without being cropped or swished). Even better, this Toshiba I had to burn a cd to unlock the region. Then when Media Play was closing, they had the same model (just discontinued) on sale for $50! I bought one for a friend and one extra for myself. Both of the last ones bought cheap were region free out of the box, already set to clear for everything! First playter died a few months later (good 4 year run) and this one is still pretty strong after 5 more, although it's getting picky and skipping now and then if discs are a bit rough-looking. |
