Good day, Sirs,

in view of the occasion, did any of you experience something like this:

Contribution upload stops at 80kb.

Profiler reports "Socket Error #0".

After that there's no network connectivity anymore and Windows 7 has to be restarted to regain network access.

Love, b-x-b

Not happened to me yet.
Sounds like an intervening firewall to me.

What happens if you rightclick on the network-symbol in the taskbar and you select the "solution center"?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Do not have installed a third party firewall, the built-in W7 firewall is activated, without any special restrictions.

I'll try to describe the course of events more precisely.

Preparing contribution file, uploading until 80kb, see Window Title "File Upload (No Response"

Then, File Upload Status: complete, but Socket Error # 0

Then, Error submission failed, try again later

From then on, Internet is disconnected

Solution center reports: Default Gateway not available

Instead of restarting Windows, it also helps to deactivate and reactivate the LAN Network Adapter to regain internet access.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Let me have a guess:
Is it a Fritz! Box you're using as router??

Yes.

It's a Fritz!Box 7170 (Firmware 29.04.76).

Check if the error still occurs after installing the latest firmware.

It does. After installing v29.04.80, exactly the same behaviour as described above.

The error occurs not only with the one specific profile. And depends on the size of the contribution,
so a contribution without images is processed normally.

Weird, for I can upload larger files, eg a 800kb image to tinypic.com. Where's the difference in the upload process?

Does Profiler create a meaningful log file?

I remember having read somewhere that this problem is caused by some setting in the Fritz! Box (it's not limited to DVDProfiler but occured with other programs too).

If I recall correctly the problem occured when two modems were connected in row (Happens when you try to use the Fritz! Box as "router only" because you have another modem from your ISP)

EDIT: Forget it.
Think I found the solution here in the last post.

Problem seems to be related to the APM settings of your onboard network adapter as a help try the following:
Quote from the last post in the thread linked above (sadly in German, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem here):
Quote:

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Didn't help either.

Installed Profiler on a second PC, worked fine -> no Fritz! or general Profiler/InvelosServer issue.

Uploaded, as a test, two HD-Trailers 180 MB each to my online storage: no problem.

What finally did the trick was

I also got this problem: When transfering large amounts of data over the network the network card would disconnect, requiring a "disable/enable" to fix.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit RTM and the latest Atheros driver (2.4.7.27).

To resolve, I went into the driver properties, clicked Advanced / Task Offload, and I turned this feature off.

Now, the driver works fine for me

from this discussion.

I don't understand what the feature "Task Offload" means, or what the difference is between uploading 380MB somewhere or uploading 400kB to Invelos.

Thank you all the same, I really do appreciate your efforts, dear Sir.
