Just what I need, yet another set of the Star Wars films.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

More importantly, no two releases of Star Wars have ever been the same, so what's George got in mind this time. I love the quote from the guy saying we keep finding stuff.

I'm getting sick of this crap. Every Star Wars movie has at least two versions. I'd love to see it Blade Runner-style with every version and include classic making of material like "From Star Wars to Jedi," but I don't want to sit around wondering if it will be changed for the worse and I'll be denied the better version again.

LOL, Ace, I feel your pain, my friend. I have learned to take a different view of all of this since GL is not alone in this little game, just perhaps the most visible outside of Cameron. I view each release (this does not mean each and every release for every film) as an issue of history and deal with them from that perspective. Yes, that means I have a sizable number of "duplicates" but for those films that fall into that heading for me, it is simply history. I have each release of Star Wars dating back to the first Pan & Scan Laserdiscs, they all share a particular place in the history and evolution of the film to what it is today.

So we're not going to have to suffer the 3D remakes first?

After the ruined lightsaber effects of the 2004 DVD edition I'm not very excited, until Lucas decides to correct/revert these. I can life with the 1997 special editions, even when I would prefer the original versions, but the 2004 edition was no fun watching (at least for me).

Skip, I like your way of looking at the different versions and have never really thought of it that way before .. but I still can't help but cringe when I watch the new versions. Seamless branching with all versions for Blu-ray would be great but unlikely... oh well back to my original version bonus disc set

Remember when the dvds for te prequels started coming out, marketed as "perfect clones of the digital source"? Would that make these better than perfect? Can I sue for false advertising in 2001? Oh wait, I didn't buy any of them so I didn't get jacked.

My feeling for Lucas remain the same, bad since the end of Jedi.

I read somewhere that ( after Lucas has jacked us for many dollar$ for the BD series .) his team at Lucasfilm will be taking the last three films and turning them into 3D films such as Clash of the Titans.,
(but not like Avatar is as Avatar was filmed in 3D  where Clash was setup in post for 3D., Hence why all the lousy reviews for that presentation recently.) .  So as many of us are aware.. George has long fingers into our pockets ..

For me it was all downhill after Empire. Jedi is the only one I only went to once. I still can't believe there are fans of the yub yub song at the end of Jedi classic. Changing that at the end of the special edition was like a little piece of heaven.
