Why are store like Borders, Best Buy, etc getting new relases before online vendors like Amazon, Deepdiscount and Right Stuff.  Two recent examples of this are Ah! My Godess season 2, and Ah My Buddah season 1.  The ironic thing is that I got Ah My Buddah at Borders online with a coupon yet on line vendors do not get it until the 29th.

It takes Amazon and Deepdiscount etc etc longer to get them into the system.. Avatar ( coming next week,) is all ready available at some retailers ...

The thing is theses are in the system but say that they will not be relsed until later.

It's possible that in some cases certain retailer(s) have a small period where they have exclusive rights to sell a specific release.
