From my understanding it makes the most sense. I agree, though I did post a (IMO and not knowing the difficulty of implementing such a thing, lol) viable solution in the other thread that would appease both sides: In editing a profile, beneath the rating (where the official rating and rating details be provided) could be a checkbox indicating there is also an unrated version on the disc, then on the profile itself, next to the rating it would state NR. I guess it would be similar in showing that the same disc has a widescreen and full screen version (in the display at least). | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

| Posted: | | | | There is no real rule to it... Unrated could go either way. But in my experience for movies Unrated is mostly worse then the rated version. I don't know how it works with the parental controls as I just don't use them. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Unrated because (in theory) that's the 'worst' rating. It hasn't gone through the academy and many times has more blood and gore (in the horror genre, at least), so it should take precedence if there's a rated version. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | Unrated. Granted, a lot of times the unrated is no worse in terms of content, just different, but we have to be consistent unless we can think of a good rule to distinguish. |

| Posted: | | | | I would like someone to explain why this simple Rule became so convoluted and not understandable. I don't recall it EVER becoming an issue for controversy before it was redone.

Now that James mentioned it, however, I would be interested to know whether or not that might have been the reason for the change...or something else completely. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | Unrated should be the one profiled for runtime and all that, but if both versions are on the disc and there are rating reasons for the rated version on the back cover, then we should be able to contribute those IMO.
99% of unrated would be the same rating if submitted, it's just a buzzword to sell more dvds. Currently I'm keeping all these reasons local, for a while they were being accepted but that seems to have changed lately, so I don't bother submitting them anymore. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting goblinsdoitall: Quote: I still don't really get how your rating systems work. In Germany the whole DVD gets the rating of the content with the highest rating. This may result in the strange: Main Feature FSK-0 (suitable for all audiences) and a Trailer with FSK-18 (not allowed for people under 18) -> the whole DVD having an FSK-18 (This is sometimes even used for merchandising purposes). Since this is DVD-Profiler and not Movie-Profiler (as quite often stated), we would duly enter the FSK-18 for the DVD, all else would lead to endless discussions on sources. So if for some incomprehensible reasons your rating organization seems to think that R is a higher rating than NR, so be it. We do not interpret data, we enter it. So, it was me to vote "Other". Unless someone can explain to me how the US rating system works I can see no reason to choose another rating than the one imprinted on the cover, whichever this may be. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
