| | Posted: | | | | I was making a contribution for "The Blind Side" the other day and Kathy Bates shows up with a birth year. Normally there is a check box to contribute a BY that has not been already accepted but, this time there wasn't so I checked the accepted BY thread and didn't find Kathy Bates listed.
I didn't contribute the cast since I couldn't find any evidence that we need a BY for her but, is there another thread where she got accepted? | | | Are you local?

According to imdb this is the only thing this "other" Kathy Bates has done. I just can't picture the more famous Bates starring in that type of movie.
So I'm going to assume that there are two Kathy Bates.
I guess the only way to really solve this is if someone owns this dvd is for them to find the scene where Kathy Bates appears and see if she looks like the well known Bates. |

So I wouldn't ask to have it removed since as soon as someone does the cast list for it (if it is in the database that could happen at any time... or may never... who knows).... it will be needed anyway. (Even if unneeded) Til now it's sometimes just ping-pong. Adding BY, removig BY.  Same or different Kathy Bates? I don't know, but I would bet, if she exists, she's a different. So now if anyone tries to make a contribution with Kathy Bates in the cast the birth year automatically gets added without the option not to include it. I for one don't want to propergate a BY just in the chance there is another Kathy Bates that might have played in one movie. So for now I guess my only options are to either not make any cast contributions that Kathy Bates is in. Remove the BY from my locale DB so I can continue to make contributions. Or to document someone else BY contribution and get it in the accepted BY thread. Right now I'm thinking best to remove it from my local DB  | | | Are you local?

I've never submitted a change just to remove the BY, but I have made them as part of larger contributions, just like I have with removing John Cleese's BY.
People need to be careful of what BY they're submitting and accepting. I'm constantly seeing valid BYs removed and invalid BYs submitted.
And it's a pain, because once it's in your local, it affects all the profiles for that actor, and that's how they get spread. There should be an option to accept or decline a BY if you ask me. | | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

Definitive proof that a BY for Kathy Bates isn't needed. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |
