I'm still on 3.5.1 and in reading the release notes to 3.6.1 I see no mention of how the update is done. As in, install over the existing profiler?

I installed mine straight over the top of my previous version. It worked fine, although I did have to do a rebuild after the new install. But PLEASE, make sure you do a backup first.

Make a backup of youre database first.

There's no need to uninstall 3.5.1 first....you can install 3.6.1 over it and the first time you run the new version, your database will be automatically updated.

It all went smooth, backed up the 3.5.1. Turned off Anti V, Firewall, etc. temporarily, ran the update/install directly over the old from the update page, did the re-synchronize bit as the window instructed. Once the opening page of my collection came up I closed out, rebooted the computer and went back in: all is well, entries, reports, every feature I use, as far as I can tell.

The new genre categories are most helpful for organizing. And, the "Newer Version of this Profile Exists Do You Want to Update" and the 2 pages come up showing the old the new info and locks, I can't tell you how long I've wanted this feature.

Well done Invelos, and thanks.

except as in my case you can turn off virus checker etc.., but once you turn back ON the firewall/virus  with the profiler 3.6  installed , and In place.,, you may have to resort back to the 'settings' within your virus program  and physically allow the .profiler.exe' to unblock.., this doesn't seem to be automatic as most of if NOT all of my other .exe programs sent a  'signal'  to my F Secure and F secure then sent an automatic message back to me 'asking in generated box ' on screen .. Did I wish to allow?
Well 3.6 never generated this 'handshake', the PC of mine ( windows XP pro SP3) just froze and locked up.. I could only right click the taskbar virus icon and go into that area to unblock., I NEVER had that problem with 2.5 / 3.0 / or 3.5 with the same Virus program I use ..
I  wondered  why this is???

Sent Ken a PM about this but he hasn't opened up his messages yet..
