| Posted: | | | | If a title has a digital copy disc, and the edition field says Digital Copy Special Edition, can the Digital Copy part of that edition field be deleted (making it just a Special Edition) since there's a DC checkbox now? | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

Quoting the revised Rules: Quote: Do not enter media types (such as "Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy") into the edition or title field. I read that to mean that "Digital Copy" should not be entered in the "Edition" field, and should be removed if it was previously entered. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting The Rules Quote: Edition The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions and collections (for example The Criterion Collection, Widescreen, Full-Screen Edition, Director's Cut). It's usually safe to use one of the built-in selections if appropriate. If you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box, and ensure it will help distinguish between different releases of the same title.
Do not enter media types (such as "Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy") into the edition or title field. bolding by me So it is ok to remove Charlie |

| Posted: | | | | In this example Blu-ray + DVD would not be used But in this example i thought "Digital Copy" would still be part of the edition but from what others have posted here in the second example Digital Copy should be left out of the Edition so it would be "3-Disc Special Edition" is that correct? |

| Posted: | | | | I don't get this rule. There are frequently two editions distinguished only by a digital copy. Is the edition field supposed to distinguish between different releases or not? |

That's the way I read the new rule. I submitted a removal of "Digital Copy" from the Edition such as that recently and it was approved with no issues. I've also seen other users removing it from the Edition, which also were approved with no problems. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | Talking about Digital Copy, I'd like some opinions on the following thought:
Now that we have a checkbox for Digital copy, do we need to keep it also as a Disc under the Disc set? As it has no ID it does not really serve a purpose. And it is not usable in those big 500 DVDs players as it is to be used exclusively on a PC.
What do you think?

| Posted: | | | | It does indicate if there is physical media present with the digital copy. Sometimes it's just a code for a download. I don't add the Disc info unless i have physical media to lay my hands on. | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | Well, it does work as a placeholder especially for 3-disc sets with Blu-ray, DVD and DC. Personally, I'm not a stickler for disc order, but the DC would be useful especially if it's the second disc of a set. |

Just FYI, there are some changer/players that use a PC DVD drive, for example the Sony VGPXL1B1/2/3 (200 discs) and the latest Dacal/Ziotek carousels (100 discs). All of these can be controlled using a DVDP plugin. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | OK, thanks for the answers. Seems it is justified to have it in the discs list. No problem. |
